A peaceful and quiet place to enjoy the French country life

The holiday home was built of pierres blanches, the solid limestone typically from the Dordogne. Behind the house, there is a garden of 10,000 m2 offering some required privacy. A large stand serves as a storage room for the garden furniture and gardening tools. Furthermore, there is an old oven, once fully functional as a bread oven. This oven now serves as a storage for the firewood for the fire place and woodstove.

FermePostel is open from 1 May to 1 October. A rental period lasts from Saturday 3.00 pm till the other Saturday 10.00 am. The number of residents is six persons at most.

The rent is per week, incl. Electricity, water, use garden room, pool + paddling pool and, if required , firewood.

Pets are not allowed into the holiday home in the interest of hygiene.

The final cleaning costs € 75 , - and is in addition to the rent.

house keys
The family Pascal, the neighbours in Graschamp, will hand over the house keys upon arrival. They also possess a spare key.

accessibility
The holiday home is located halfway a hill. A number of stairs are located in and around the home. Because of this, the location is unfortunately not suitable for diabled persons.

pets
Pets are not allowed into the holiday home in the interest of hygiene.

swimming pool
A swimming pool, 3 metres broad and 7 metres long, is located in the garden. The swimming pool is surrounded by a wall and a fence.

environment
There is no sewerage in the French countryside, similarly in Graschamp. Instead of sewerage, houses have a septic tank. In this tank, toilet and shower water are collected and biologically degraded. In order to avoid clogging of the septic tank, we kindly, yet stringently, ask you to deposit nothing but toilet paper in the toilet. Do not deposit feminine hygiene products such as sanitary napkins and tampons in the toilet. We also ask you to only use the ‘green’ cleaning products delivered by us for cleaning the toilet and bathroom as well as for doing the dishes. The final cleaning is mandatory and will be done by us.

facilities
The holiday home has five beds divided of three sleeping rooms. In total, there are 3 double person comforters (180 x 200cm), an extra wide one person bed (140 x 200cm) and pillows, all with seperate matresses. We ask you to bring linen yourself as well as kitchen towels, tea towels and towels.

departure and cleaning
Ferme Postel should be left in good condition when your trip ends. This means that the floors are clean sweep; vascular (laundry) is clean and all crockery is placed back in the cupboards. In addition, the tenant must itself all garbage including bringing glasses and empty bottles. Please do not leave perishable food items behind.

FermePostel then takes care of the final cleaning. This is mandatory and the costs are above the top of the rent. For several weeks rent we charge one-time cleaning fee.
 

ATM and post office
An ATM (Credit Agricole) can be found on the towns square of Ayen. There is also a post office and a library with a tourist information centre, where you can go for information and Internet.

grocery
Large supermarkets are found in Objat, Trasson and Brive. There are two grocery shops, a bakery, a butcher, three restaurants and an Office du Tourisme are located in Ayen. Usually, stores are closed between 0.30 pm and 2.30 pm. Normally, they are open until 7.00 pm as well as on Sunday mornings.

climate
The climate in this area of France is particularly favourable thanks to the pleasantly warm summers. Although, there may be some rain from time to time – it is quite a humid environment – temperatures often reach to 25 to 30 °C in the months of July, August and September.

In the coolest month, January, the temperature drops to the freezing point. It barely ever snows. Springs and falls can be quite warm. Both sunbathers and shade seekers will find there perfect spot in the garden during every hour of the day.

basement - souterrain
In the basement, you will find a bathroom with a shower, washbasin and toilet. Here is one double bed with two separate mattresses. You will also find a washing machine.
Attractive stone steps lead from the bathroom to the living room and kitchen.

living room and kitchen
The living room (approx. 55 m2) adjacent to an open kitchen makes for the centre of the ranch. You will find a cantou, a large fireplace, which will warm up the room during cooler nights. On top of this, there is a music system and a television with access to the regular Dutch channels thanks to a satellite antenna. Moreover, there is a DVD player and a small selection of DVDs as well as a Wi-Fi connection.

In the kitchen, a dishwasher, an induction cooker, oven, microwave oven, coffee maker and fridge with freezer can be found. In addition to this, there is a wide range of kitchenware.

sleeping rooms
When taking the stairs from the living room to the attic floor, you will face two separate sleeping rooms stretching over the full length of the attic. You will sleep underneath the rustic, oak rafters.
There are two double beds with separate mattresses and a bed (140 x 200 cm) with 1 mattress.
Furthermore, there is an infant bed over which there is mosquito netting. There are also mosquito nets over the double bed and the juxtaposed single beds.

The house is surrounded by the garden, an outdoor swimming pool (7 × 3 m) and a terrace from which the view is absolutely beautiful. Both sunbathers and shade seekers will find there perfect spot in the garden during every hour of the day. Among the facilities are garden furniture, a barbecue and an electrically inflatable children’s pool.

Holiday home Ferme Postel is located in the village of Grass Champ, 20 km northwest of Brive-la-Gaillarde on the border of the Corrèze and Dordogne in the country of Vézère and Auvézère. Grass Champ is a charming typical village with about 10 houses and many inhabitants. Holiday home Ferme Postel is located in a beautiful hilly area 3 km away from the town Ayen and a short drive from the Dordogne. In a nutshell it lies between the villages of Saint Robert and Perpezac-le-Blanc.


The area is quiet and not overrun with tourists. There are many typical French villages , with nice people and medieval sights. In the region of the Corrèze and Dordogne are the famous placed Sarlat, Souillac, Rocamadour, Les Eyzis, Perigueux and Bergerac. The rivers Vézère and Dordogne offer plenty of opportunities for water sports and also the inland lake at Lissac , Lac du Causse , you can surf , swimming and water skiing. The area is ideal for walkers and cyclists through the many trails.
For culture lovers there are old towns, castles and prehistoric caves. The Office du Tourisme ( Tourist Office) of Ayen can provide comprehensive information.

The absence of industry in this region explains the purity of the air. This makes the stars a stunning clarity. Not for nothing is 2 km from an observatory. The region is fertile, has an exuberant vegetation and is known for its fruit (apples, walnuts and prunes). A favorable microclimate and many farmers with vegetable gardens always guarantee the supply of fresh fruit and vegetables in the markets.

The gourmets among us appreciate the world-renowned cuisine of the Perigord. There are many restaurants where you can eat well-known dishes such as duck breast (magret de canard), foie gras (duck and goose), mushrooms (cepes and girolles), and truffles.

In short, Grass Champ is an area of ​​peace, nature and culture, friendly people, tourist attractions in the Dordogne and the original  'french sense of life' à la campagne of Corrèze.

swimming
Swimming is possible in many places in the environment, both in lakes, rivers and swimming pools. In the rivers Dordogne and Vézère canoeing is also possible. Of course you can also use the swimming pool at the house.

  • Lac du Causse in Lissac, near Larche / Brive with beaches (30 min drive)
  • Objat: swimming pool with slides (20 min drive)
  • Juillac: swimming pool (15 min drive)
  • Allassac: river beach (stone) opposite camp, with bridge behind restaurant. Big wide waterfall, canoes. Nice spectacle. (25 min drive)
  • Le Lardin: village at Terrasson , grass beach near century-old bridge. Fairytale Small river, deep and shallow, very bright and photogenic spot (20 min drive)
  • Vigeois: lac du Poncharal , more real beach, suitable for everything (45 min drive)
  • Ocean Beach at Bordeaux (3 hours drive)

markets
Nice markets can be found in Objat on Sunday morning, in Terrasson on Thursday morning and both in Brive-la-Gaillarde and in Périgueux on Saturday morning.

A must is the Thursday market in Ayen, which takes place at the church for six weeks in the summer from 17:00. You will discover the taste of the products of the region. You buys your meat, fish and vegetables and grills it yourself on a large barbaque, to enjoy them then while sipping wine, dance and music .

hiking, biking and culture
The area is ideal for walkers and cyclists with many marked trails that you can get at the Office du Tourisme ( Tourist Office) of Ayen .
For culture lovers there are old towns, castles and prehistoric caves.
